N – This is a story of a many girls named R, A, P, U, N, Z, and El. Often the girls were referred to as the Rapunzel girls. Our story starts with the sun. Once upon a time droplets of sunlight fell from the heavens, and from these small droplets of sun, grew magical flowers, seven to be exact. They had the ability to heal the sick and injured.
(Valerie exit rt – open curtain)

(send out Mother Sisters – sneaking to the flowers)
(Valerie enter RW)
N – There were two sister that found these flowers, and kept them to themselves. Instead of sharing the healing power of these magical flowers, Mother Gothel, and her sister Mother Zelda kept them hidden away and used their secret power to keep them young for hundreds of years. All they had to do was sing a special song.
Gothel – (brushing the hair of each flower with her hand) - Flower gleam and glow; Let your power shine; Make the clock reverse, bring back what once was mine; Heal what has been hurt, change the fate's design; Save what has been lost, bring back what once was mine; What once was mine.
Zelda – It’s my turn! Move! (brushing the hair of each flower with her hand) - Flower gleam and glow; Let your power shine; Make the clock reverse, bring back what once was mine; Heal what has been hurt, change the fate's design; Save what has been lost, bring back what once was mine; What once was mine.
(both continue to brush the hair of the girls)
(OD – Good Queen w/ a pillow in her tummy)
N - Centuries passed, and a kingdom grew nearby. The kingdom was ruled by a lovely queen, a lovely pregnant Queen.
(Send out Queen center stage curtseying multiple times)
(OD – All Lizards, Edward, and Maximus)
N - A disease swept thru their lands causing anyone who was pregnant to get sick,
(acting it out)
N - and I mean extremely sick. (I feel her head for a fever)
N - She calls her servants.
Queen – Maximus, Chuck, Edward, Fred, Pascal, come quickly.
(send lizards, Edward, and Maximus onstage)
Maximus – Queen, all of the pregnant women in the town are extremely sick.
Queen – Bring them to the castle; here they will receive the best care.
Maximus – My Queen, you don’t look very good.
Queen – Go, and take the others with you, and find us all those magical flowers we have heard of in the legend of the sun.
N – The Queen quickly exited to help out the other pregnant women at the castle. While, her servants set out to find the magical golden flowers. The witches heard the towns people coming, and quickly tried to hide the flowers.
(pushing their heads down, and then the flowers will pop back up)
N - Finally they hid themselves.
(hiding behind the rt wing curtain)
N - The towns people found the flowers and picked them.
(each lizard picks one flower; Edward, and Maximus pick two flowers; the flowers are picked up from under the armpits and jump upon standing)
(OD – Queen)
N - They quickly took the flowers back to the castle, to all the pregnant women, including the queen. Mother Gothel, and Mother Zelda quickly followed their healing flowers to see where they were going.
(all exiting or crossing the stage to stage left)
N - The magic of the golden flower healed the queen, but the others did not survive.
(send in Queen)
(OD – RAPUNZEL)
Queen – In honor of these poor women who lost their lives to this horrible disease, I shall take their children in as my own. Each and every one of them shall be equal princesses of this kingdom. To celebrate their births I will launch seven flying lanterns into the sky. Girls come see!
(send out RAPUNZEL’s crawling, and circling the Queen)
Queen – Alright now, girls time for bed.
(OD – Maximus, Edward, Lizards)
(each girl lines up across the front of the stage, curling up on the floor to sleep; the queen goes down the row and pretends to tuck them all in)
Queen – Maximus!
(Send out Maximus)
Maximus – Yes, my Queen?
Queen – Send the watchmen to watch the princesses thru-out the night. Good night Maximus.
N – The queen then retired to bed. Maximus called to her watchman.
Maximus – Edward, Chuck, Pascal, Fred!
(Send in Lizards & Edward)
(OD – Mother Sisters)
Maximus – Stand guard over the girls.
(they spread out in a row behind the princess, curl up and go to sleep on the floor)
(Send Mother Sisters onstage)
N – Mother Gothel, and Mother Zelda had hope that their flowers magic still existed with their song. They snuck into the castle and sang.
Gothel & Zelda - Flower gleam and glow; Let your power shine; Make the clock reverse, bring back what once was mine; Heal what has been hurt, change the fate's design; Save what has been lost, bring back what once was mine; What once was mine.
N – They saw that the hair of the princesses glowed, they each picked up a lock of hair & snipped it off. (using fingers) But as soon as they did, the magic died with the death of the locket of hair.
Gothel – What are we going to do?
Zelda – The power of the flower needs to be alive.
Gothel – We will have to take them with us. All of them!
Zelda – Yes, that way no one will ever find out about this incredible power.
N – Zelda & Gothel began to take the girls out of the castle and into their carriage below.
(Zelda & Gothel have to drag each child off stage left; on the last one Pascal jumps up)
(OD – Queen)
Pascal – Oh no, Edward, Chuck, Fred! We must follow the princesses.
N – Pascal, Chuck, Edward & Fred followed the girls, and snuck in the back of the carriage.
(send in the Queen)
(OD – Maximus)
N - The Queen came in to check on the girls, but they were gone!
Queen – Maximus!
(Send in Maximus)
Maximus – Where are the girls?
Queen – That is what I was going to ask you!
N – Maximus & the Queen searched the castle.
(looking around)
Queen – Maximus, search for my daughters!
(exit left wing)
N – Maximus organized a search party for the girls, the queen could only wait.
(pacing back and forth)
N – Gothel & Zelda took the girls deep into the forest, locking them away in a high tower and sealing the entry door.
